In continued efforts to make a strong pitch to attract global attention to Indian Biotech Industry, CII is organizing the 10th Biotechnology Mission to USA. CII is also promoting the advancements of the Indian Biotechnological Panorama through the India Pavilion at BIO 2011 in association with Association of Biotechnology Lead Entrepreneurs (ABLE) facilitated by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. Of India.
Indian Pavilion will be inaugurated by Dr. M.. Bhan, Secretary DBT and will witness the presence of other dignitaries H.E. DCM, Ambassador Mr Arun K. Singh, Mr S. Raghavan, Joint Secretary DBT, Dr T. Madhan Mohan, Advisor DBT, Dr. Debopriya Dutta, Counsellor S&T, Dr. Rajesh Jain, Chairman CII National Committee on Biotechnology & JMD, Panacea Biotec and Mr. Chandrajit Banerjee, DG CII.
The 50 delegate strong CII Biotechnology Mission, will visit prominent life sciences institutions like NIH, John Hopkins University, University of Maryland and delegates will get an opportunity to interact with eminent scientists and leaders viz. Dr. Francis Collins, Director NIH; Dr. Tony Fauci, Director, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases; Dr. John Gallin, Director, Clinical Center; Dr. Judy Britz, Exec Director, Maryland Biotechnology Center. CII Misison members will also have interactions with budding entrepreneurs in a special program designed for one to one interactions called BioBiz. These interactions may lead to certain collaborative research program between Indian and US organizations.
Department of Biotechnology (DBT) secretary, Dr MK Bhan will participate in the prestigious panel discussion in ” 2011 Leadership Summit” at the BIO convention to present India as a Biotechnology Destination of choice for global organizations.
CII along with BIO is also organizing a bilateral meeting between Indian and US life sciences organizations. This forum will focus on strengthening the opportunities and challenges in the areas of prime importance for both the countries i.e. Policies to Ensure Access and Support Innovation, Clinical Trials and Regulatory implementation of Biosimilars In India & US.
The India Pavilion at BIO 2011 will be yet another attempt to showcase the best of the country’s biotech strengths and Indian biotechnology industry shall be able to make a determined pitch to their American counterparts.
